Anglo Saxon Art in Hazel Class

We have spent the term looking at Anglo-Saxon artefacts.  We started by working on our sketching skills and our observational skills.

After that, we designed our own brooches based on what we knew about Anglo-Saxon brooches.  Our final pieces are made of clay and were painted using metallic paints.  We have tried to use symmetry and geometric shapes as the Anglo-Saxons did.

Year 1  have been studying the artist Paul Klee.

They have created their own paintings in his style. First they made marks and swirls with a pencil. Then, they painted over their marks using acrylic paint. When this had dried they used watercolour paints to fill the spaces inbetween the lines. The results are what you see below – some fantastic artwork!  Watch out for our Brian Pollard paintings next!
