Hazel Class visit Manor Court Residential Home

On Friday 16th June, Hazel Class visited the residents at Manor Court for their Summer Open Day, when family and friends are invited to the home to chat with residents and enjoy some fun activities.

On our arrival, we were greeted by Laura, the events organiser, and were all kindly treated to a much needed ice-cream.

The children were allowed to enjoy playing in the gardens before their first activity – decorating cupcakes with the residents.  Some were more successful at decorating the buns than others as the icing stared to melt in the heat!

Next, it was our turn to sing a few songs for the residents which they really enjoyed and joined in by clapping along.  The children sang really beautifully.

After that, a magician wowed us all with some card tricks and other clever tricks involving making a pen knife change colour as well as other things.

Unfortunately, we ran out of time and had to head back to school.  We all had a lovely time and it was especially nice to see the children talking with the residents and making them smile.

Here is a picture of Mrs Frances Parker, nee Horne, who is a former pupil from our school.  She is now 93!  It was a real privilege to talk to her.
