Walk to School Week

Walk to School Week, Road Safety and Air Quality

23rd -27th May 2016

We have been working hard to promote walking to school and road safety to achieve our silver award for the Healthy Child Quality Mark.

Ricky the road safety dog, a mascot for road safety, was brought into our school assembly to encourage children to learn about keeping safe on the roads.  Suzanne Keith and Michael House from Plymouth City Council treated us to an informative assembly on road safety, highlighting the importance of stop, look, listen, think.

We also rolled out an idling campaign on Monday afternoon to educate parents about idling, finding alternative ways to drop children off rather than leaving engines running near the school.  Thank you to our pupils to helped with this, you did an excellent job!

The number of children who walked to school increased throughout the week which was fantastic.  We also very proud to have our walking bus underway…a great success everyone!
