What a great start to term 2. Last week we enjoyed our first ‘celebrations’ topic about bonfire night. We made firework splatter paintings, designed and decorated our own ‘bottle fireworks’ and tested them to see how far they would fly.
This week we have been finding out about Diwali (the festival of lights).
We have worked collaboratively to make chalk firework display pictures and a flower garland, we have enjoyed dressing in Saris and danced to Indian music, we have tried to copy some movements from a Hindu stick dance, we have made Barfi sweets (very sticky!), we have made toran and lantern decorations, moulded and shaped clay to make a Diya lamp holder, played a Diwali pairs game on the computers and shared the story of Rama and Sita.
Some of our work and photographs are on display in the back room, you are welcome to come in and take a look at the end of the day.
Wow- another busy week of learning!
