Paignton Zoo Year 4/3
Year 4/3 had a great day at Paignton Zoo this term.
They went to the Zoo on one of the coldest days of the year but still managed to see lots of animals. Many of the animals were taking shelter in their enclosures.

The Year 3/4 class dressed as children from World War 2 on Remembrance Day this year.
The school meals team cooked a special school lunch with a WWII menu. The Reception and Year 1 pupils painted poppies to decorate the hall and artefacts from the Year 3/4 topic were on display. The children were joined by our local councillors and we even had a feature in the local paper!
The children in Year 3 visited The Elizabethan House on The Barbican. They had a great time exploring the kitchen and living rooms in the Tudor house before taking part in the Stories in the City initiative in the Elizabethan Gardens. The children learnt all about Sir Francis Drake and his daring deeds of piracy.
We had a picnic on The Hoe then walked down to the Secret Gardens in West Hoe Park. Mrs Smith’s group even managed to persuade her to climb the wooden tower. Getting her back down again was not so simple.
Orfhlaith in Year 3 has been learning circus skills. She showed the school her trapeze skills in the Upper Hall. Part of the ceiling was removed so that the trapeze and climbing ropes could be safely installed. Orfhlaiths instructor will be returning to Laira Green this term to teach other interested pupils how to perform acrobatics on the high ropes!
They were able to hold real artefacts from Ancient Egypt!
Some were 4500 years old!!!
Here are some pictures of the class at the museum exhibition.
In March the children from 3 BR had a visit from an Egyptian priest – Sneferu. Sneferu told us many interesting facts about the Ancient Egyptians including how to play Sennet. He explained all the gory details about mummification and the afterlife and the children loved listening to him.
After lunch we had a good look at the 3D burial chamber of King Tutankhamun. There were many hidden treasures inside which the children were able to pick up and investigate. We had a brilliant day and cant wait until he comes back next time!
