Year 3 New Term newsletter

January 17, 2012

Dear Parents/Guradians,
Happy New Year to you all, I hope you have all enjoyed the holiday and a very warm ‘welcome back’ to you all. It has been a lovely start to the new year in 3S. The children have had a fantastic first week back, with lots of hard work and enthusiasm.
This term we have many exciting opportunities for the children. To celebrate the 100 year anniversry of Captain Scott and his team arriving at the South Pole in Antarctica, we will be having a whole school Scott project. This is particulaly relevent for us as Scott was born in Plymouth!
This term we will also be receiving visitors from Nepal as part of our Nepalese Schools Partnership. To celebrate our links with Kalika School in Nepal and our partnership school in Brittany, France; we will be holding a whole school international week to raise children’s knowledge and understanding of the wider world.
In the classroom, we will be keeping many of the routines that you are used to the same. Children’s books will continue to be changed each day in school, so please keep reading with your child at home and write a comment in their reading diary so that we know that you have read the book with them. Homework will be sent home on Friday and collected in on Thursday.
It is an exciting new term with lots of wonderful learning opportunities for the children. If you have any questions or would like to chat to me about anything, please do not heistate to contact me or catch me at the end of the school day. I am looking forward to getting to know you all as the term progresses.

Thank you for your support!
Miss Smith
