Netball team win at LCC!
Laira Green 5 – 3 Highview
Laira Green notch up their first win of the 2010 season with a victory over Highview.
A hat trick from Ben L in the 3rd quarter proved crucial as Laira Green went on to produce an amazing comeback. The Greens came from 3-0 behind to snatch victory in the final quarter finishing the match 5-3.

Highview took an early lead as the first two goals dropped easily into the Laira Green net in the first quarter. Events began to look all too familiar for our beleaguered netball team this season as High View went on to increase their lead to 3 – 0 before the half time whistle.

Spectators at the Lipson Sports Hall who thought the game was over were to be proven badly wrong as Laira Green produced a remarkable comeback. Laira’s brilliant response, especially from unstoppable trio Beverley (C), Jessica (GA) and Ben (GS) produced some superb close range finishing. Two more goals in the final quarter; a fourth from Ben and one from Jessica, sealed the victory and left the opposition wondering just what the coach had said to them at half time!

In the first quarter Prince Rock with their nearly ‘all boy’team had the first centre pass. They had the ball through most of the first quarter but nobody scored. Laira Green had the centre pass in the 2nd quarter and although Prince Rock had the ball most of the time, still nobody scored!
In the 3rd quarter a competitive Prince Rock scored one after another, eventally the whistle went and the score was 6 – 0! Laira Green continued to rotate their players and with the ball going back and forth, back and forth they managed to score in the final seconds of the match.
The score finished at 6 – 1.
